At Brilliant Read Media, it is our constant endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from the startup ecosystem. As part of this, we invited Anuj Bishnoi for an interview with Brilliant Read Media. To say further, Anuj is a Serial Entrepreneur, Angel Investor and Founder at RePut.ai. Let’s learn more about his background, inspiring journey so far and his advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Anuj:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
My journey has always been guided by curiosity, the desire to understand how things work and how they can work better. I come from a business background which shaped the way I approach problems: methodically, analytically, and with a bias for building tangible solutions.
Early in my career, I realised I was driven less by routine and more by creation. That led me down the path of entrepreneurship, where I have been fortunate to build, scale, and successfully exit two ventures before founding RePut.ai.
Each of those journeys taught me something invaluable. The first showed me the power of timing and market fit, understanding the importance of pivoting, while the second taught me the importance of resilience, managing large teams, growth along with profitability, and systems that scale sustainably. By the time I began thinking about my third venture, I knew I wanted to dedicate my energy to something with both commercial and planetary significance.
That was when the idea of RePut.ai took root, a platform that could bridge technology and sustainability to make environmental accountability effortless and transparent. From the very beginning, it was about more than just building another startup; it was about creating a movement around data-driven sustainability action.
Looking back, every phase of my journey, from engineering labs to boardrooms to field deployments, has led to this moment. RePut.ai is the culmination of everything I have learned as an entrepreneur and a problem-solver, driven by the belief that technology can be the most powerful tool for protecting our planet while empowering the businesses that drive it forward.
For me, this is not just a venture; it is a lifelong mission to make sustainability measurable, actionable, and transformative for every organisation in the world.
Hence, RePut.ai is amplifying corporates and transforming sustainability from a reporting burden into a profit engine, helping businesses earn trust, meet compliance, and unlock new credit and pricing advantages through verifiable impact.
‘RePut.ai’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
The name RePut comes from the word reputation. At its core, RePut.ai is about helping companies build and protect their brand reputation by ensuring that it is not harmed through sustainability and compliance risks. The idea was to reput trust, integrity, and transparency back into how businesses manage their environmental and social impact.
When we started, we realised that sustainability data across industries was often fragmented, unverifiable, and filled with assumptions. We wanted to change that by building a platform where every data point, from factory emissions to operational efficiency, could be trusted, traceable, and verified in real time.
At RePut.ai, we are solving three fundamental problems through artificial intelligence. The first is digital adoption and monitoring. Most organisations still struggle to digitise their sustainability and compliance workflows, so we use AI and IoT to automate data collection and build continuous monitoring systems.
The second is data quality. AI helps us clean, standardise, and validate data from multiple sources, ensuring that reports and disclosures are not just compliant but credible. The third is data-driven planning. We use predictive analytics to help businesses set reduction targets, optimise resource use, and make better decisions for both profitability and sustainability.
RePut.ai is not just another SaaS platform; it is the world’s sustainability infrastructure, turning supply chains into intelligent, verifiable systems that unlock value, compliance, and climate-positive revenue across every link.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
Every startup has its highs and lows. What keeps me grounded is remembering why we started, the idea that sustainability should not just be a corporate checkbox but a cultural shift.
There have been moments of uncertainty, compliance delays, technical hurdles, or regulatory changes, but every time a client uses our platform to actually reduce emissions or transform their supply chain, it is a reminder that the impact is real.
What also keeps me going is the team, their resilience, creativity, and belief in the mission. We have built RePut.ai like a family that thrives on purpose, not just performance. Our strong and experienced founding team plays a crucial role in that. Each founder brings deep domain expertise and complementary strengths, which together form the backbone of our problem-solving ability.
When things get tough, we rely on that collective experience and remind ourselves that building something meaningful takes time, and every small win compounds into something extraordinary. And finally, nature itself. The more time I spend outdoors, the clearer my purpose becomes: to leave behind a planet worth inheriting.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
Over the years, I have realised that the foundation of any meaningful journey lies in purpose. When your why is clear and deeply personal, challenges stop feeling like obstacles and start becoming milestones. That sense of purpose transforms even the hardest days into steps forward. It reminds you that pressure is temporary, but impact is lasting.
The second lesson has been about people. I have learned that great companies are not built by hierarchies; they are built by teams that believe in something larger than themselves.
At RePut.ai, I have seen firsthand how empowering people, giving them space to experiment, and trusting them to own their ideas creates a culture of innovation and accountability that no process alone can deliver.
This belief took shape during my previous venture, BBD, an experience that reinforced my conviction that technology, when used with empathy, can create real social change.
And finally, I have learned to value progress over perfection. Especially in sustainability and technology, there is always something more to refine or rebuild. But if you wait for perfection, you will never move.
My ultimate goal is to make sustainability management as accessible as any other business function, so that every SME in India can have a strong foundation in sustainability. I have come to appreciate that consistent, incremental improvement, those small, daily steps, create the kind of lasting impact that outlives you.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
To me, success is not a destination but a rhythm, a balance between vision, discipline, and adaptability. The first key is clarity of purpose. You need to know why you are doing what you are doing because that clarity becomes your compass when everything else feels uncertain.
The second is consistency. Most people overestimate what they can do in a month and underestimate what they can do in a year. Showing up every single day, even when the results are not immediate, builds the kind of momentum that ultimately sets you apart.
The third is humility to learn and unlearn. The world is changing fast, and the ability to stay curious and open-minded is far more valuable than being the smartest in the room. I have found that the most successful people are the ones who are constantly evolving, adapting, and challenging their own assumptions.
True success, to me, is when your growth also uplifts the people and ecosystem around you. It is about creating value that endures, something that continues to make an impact long after you have moved on to the next chapter.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
If I had to offer one piece of advice, it would be to stay relentlessly curious. The world rewards those who keep learning, experimenting, and staying ahead of the curve. Do not rush to chase titles or validation. Focus instead on building skills, resilience, and a mindset that thrives on solving problems.
Secondly, find your purpose early, but allow it to evolve. Your career is not a straight line; it is a series of experiments that help you discover what truly excites you. Be open to detours because they often reveal your biggest strengths.
And finally, build genuine relationships. No great career is built in isolation. Seek mentors, collaborate with people smarter than you, and learn to both give and receive feedback with grace. Success is not just about getting to the top; it is about how many people you bring up with you on the way there.
If you keep learning, stay adaptable, and lead with authenticity, success becomes a natural outcome of your growth, not a separate goal to chase.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
What excites me most about this journey is the speed at which technology, sustainability, and business are converging, and being at the centre of that intersection is incredibly energising.
Building RePut.ai has given me a front-row seat to how artificial intelligence can transform sustainability from a compliance task into a core business strategy. Watching large enterprises use our platform to make faster, smarter, and more responsible decisions feels like witnessing the next industrial revolution, one driven not by machines but by intelligence.
What also makes this journey thrilling is the constant innovation. Every year brings new regulations, data challenges, and emerging technologies, and staying ahead of that curve keeps us sharp and restless.
We are not just building software; we are shaping how sustainability will be managed globally in the next decade. Knowing that our technology is helping businesses future-proof themselves while protecting the planet gives me a sense of excitement that never fades.
